Our goal is to provide you with an
experience that will allow you to reminisce about another time when life
was much slower and you may have had an opportunity to pick
fruit with a loved one, return home to prepare a cobbler and jam, or
just enjoy time together eating the fruit.
However, if this will be your first time to come to pick blackberries,
let us encourage you to come early so that you can have enough time to
slow down, observe the morning light as it reflects off the pond, and
enjoy the childlike excitement of picking and eating fresh fruit from
the vine.
June '07 was our first picking season. We all can agree on one thing….
it came at us very fast. We learned as we went along each and every day.
We did have the best time of our lives as we were able to meet so many
wonderful people and be a part of every one's blackberry
experience. Our first year was a blessing from the Lord!

As you scroll through many of the pictures we have posted, it will
become obvious that our sole purpose for planting the blackberry farm is
to provide memories with your loved ones.
My favorite picture is of the young man in the frog rain gear. This
picture represents several generations of one family who are creating
precious memories picking blackberries on a cool rainy day. In June '08
we will be waiting for you at the farm.
History: Whatever made you decide to grow blackberries?

After grazing cattle for over 10 years, I told mom it was time to sell
the cows.
She was hesitant but willing to be moved in that direction. I assured
her that I would not steer her wrong.
I promise their would not be a lot at steak. ( Toomey punishment )!
Seriously, Carol and I make fruit smoothies every day. We would fill our
freezer every summer with local blackberries, red raspberries, and
blueberries. I suggested to mom that we plow the field and plant some
for ourselves. She thought it was a great idea. Mom remembers
specifically instructing me to
start with one hundred. It sounded to me like two thousand. The next
thing you know we plowed, mounded, mulched, planted, and watered over
1900 plants.
